Dear Parent /Carers

As you know we have been providing hampers for the last few weeks to try to help ease the financial burden during these difficult times.  We are now in the final stages of preparing to move across to the Government’s National Free School Meal Voucher Scheme with effect from next week the week commencing Monday 4th May 2020.

This scheme provides a supermarket voucher for £15 per week per eligible child.   We have been testing the scheme with one of our Academies in the South West Region, and whilst the systems are working, delivery of the vouchers is very slow and there is no guarantee how long it will take for the voucher codes to reach you.  Once the academy has placed the order, we have no control over when the vouchers are delivered to your email address.

 Once a voucher code has been delivered to your email box, you will have to redeem the code at www.freeschoolmeals.co.uk .  This is where you will be able to choose your supermarket.  Aldi and McColls have joined the scheme this week.  Each voucher is being delivered separately by some of the supermarkets, so if you have several children, it may take up to 24 hours for you to receive all your vouchers after you have redeemed your voucher code.

With this in mind, we have decided to order 2 weeks-worth of vouchers at a time, so you will receive a £30 voucher for every child who is registered as eligible for Free School meals every fortnight.  The first voucher code will be delivered to your email address some time during the week beginning 4th May.  Please note that it might not arrive until the very end of the week as the website is under a huge amount of strain and currently overwhelmed with orders from every school in the country.  Please be patient as you will receive all the vouchers that you are entitled to, but we just cannot guarantee when.

We are going to post a help sheet on the school website, which shows a step by step guide on how to redeem your vouchers.  There is also a frequently asked questions sheet attached to this email.
