Wow what a great week, last week – our first week back was! Thank you all for all of your support with phase one of our re-opening. It has been brilliant for me to finally meet some of you and it has been great to see so many faces returning to school and looking so happy. The school has felt alive again and both the teaching staff and children have enjoyed getting back to a semblance of normality.
It has been reassuring to see that all the hard work, planning and communication has led to a smooth reintegration of Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and 6 children. The reason we chose to only reintroduce the children for two days last week was to ensure that after a substantial break the children were gently reintroduced to learning and could get used to how the school has had to be organised due to Covid-19. However, it has always been the school’s intention to reintegrate the children more fully at a time that supports them emotionally.
With this in mind we have been planning for phase 2 of the reintegration plan and are aiming from next week (the week commencing 22nd of June) to have the Reception and Year 1 bubbles increase to 4 days i.e. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, allowing Wednesdays as a day for the children to rest and recover. We will also reintroduce year 5 back to school for 3 days a week from the 22nd also with their days at school being Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Miss Binns has been in contact with the parents/carers of year 5 children last week and will continue to do so this week to ascertain who is able to return. For any year 5 children who are in the key worker bubble, the preference would be, where possible, for them to join their classmates but they cannot be part of both the year 5 bubble and keyworker bubble. Any children who are in Reception and Year 1 currently and are attending the keyworker bubble, if you could let the office know if you would know like to move your child instead to the reception and year 1 bubbles so we can ascertain numbers that would be greatly appreciated. This does mean however that should Reception and Year 1 children wish to be with their peers, the Wednesday keyworker provision would no longer be available to them.
The provision for Nursery and Year 6 children will remain as it currently is.
The current start and end times, as well as drop off and pick-up points, will remain the same for Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6. The start time for Year 5 children (Wed-Fri) will be from 8:40am to 8:50am meeting on the KS2 playground and then finishing at 2:30pm once more exiting via the KS2 playground. Year 5 children, like the other children coming into school, need to bring with them a packed lunch and a water bottle and make sure they are alternating between wearing school uniform and their P.E. kits. If you are a Year 5 parent and are unsure about how the school will look for your child returning, I have added some links below to videos to illustrate this. Any references to Year 6 are also applicable to Year 5.

Thank you for all your support during the reintegration of as many year groups as we can manage while at the same time following government guidelines.
I hope everyone has a good week.
