Dear parents and carers,
I hope you are all staying fit and well during the lockdown.
We are now in the fifth week of schools being in lockdown and have now spent several weeks sharing the Ilminster Avenue school site with the children and staff there. Perry Court children and staff both have adjusted well to the change of location. The weeks are flying by and for many this new normal is rapidly becoming routine. Despite rumblings in the news that schools may be opening soon, nothing has been confirmed as of yet but when we receive updates we will let you know.
Today, as you are probably aware, saw the launch of the online learning platform: Seesaw. Through this platform, we are aiming to provide more structured and formalised teaching videos in order to better support the amazing work that is happening at home. The aim is also to enable all of the children to more independently access learning tasks, as they will be supported through detailed videos by our teachers. The introduction of Seesaw will also allow us to have an open interaction with both you and your children allowing support to be more readily provided. Parents of younger children such as those in nursery and reception will have learning provided through the Tapestry platform and all parents will have had these logins for a while now. If these have however been misplaced, please email the nursery or reception email (see below) to let us know.
Logins for Seesaw have been communicated to the parents/carers of all children in years 1 to 6 and should anyone have a problem logging in or any issues whatsoever, please email your child’s teacher using the appropriate year group email address:
On the school website there is also a parent virtual school guide that you will hopefully find useful. This can be found using the following link: https://perrycourtacademy.e-act.org.uk/useful-information/home-learning/
Thank you to everyone who has already logged onto Seesaw. Seeing some of the children’s photographs, writing and comments has been absolutely brilliant! Once everyone gets into a routine and becomes familiar with this platform, the children will not only have access to lessons directly from their teachers once more, but will enjoy carrying out the activities set.
In relation to year 6 SATs tests the Department for Education has cancelled these and whenever I know how children will be assessed, I will update you.
The year 5 sailing trip has had to be cancelled unfortunately and we are waiting to hear what is happening with regard to the year 6 residential. Again, whenever we know, we will update you. Should any monies need to be refunded this will be done when the situation has become clearer.
I am currently in the process of deciding inset days for the next academic year and will update you on these shortly.
Thank you for your support and patience.
Stay safe and well,
