An unbelievable 4 sessions at the basketball league at Merchants Academy! Our Y5/6 Basketball team have only gone and won the Ashton Park Sports Partnership league. This is an incredible achievement. The team have been incredible over the last few weeks showing off their talent and the final was a brilliant standard of play.
They absolutely smashed it, winning the whole league with 29 other teams entered!
In the final they faced Bridge Farm and after 5 minutes and extra time it was a draw 1-1. For there to be a decided champion it was all depending on sudden death penalty shots. We won the whole event based on 2/3 of our penalties going in and Bridge Farm having 1/3 scored. We’ve now qualified for the Bristol Flyers Cup in March. Miss Miles and Mr Jones are beyond proud and couldn’t praise these children enough.
