As we wave goodbye to Mr Healey, who is heading down the country to Somerset, to become an Executive Headteacher, we are very excited to invite Mrs Nicky Reynolds to step into the role and steer the team through these unusual times and prepare us all for September.

Monday 6th April 2020

Dear parents and carers,

I had hoped to meet many of you before I officially became the Headteacher of Perry Court E-ACT Academy but as you can appreciate circumstances have made that impossible.  Nevertheless, I am very proud and delighted to be the new Headteacher of Perry Court and look forward to continuing Mr. Healey’s excellent work in taking the academy from strength to strength as well as building relationships with you, your children, the staff and the wider community.

I taught at Perry Court a few years ago when I was a Lead Practitioner and always found it a welcoming place to be and am delighted to be returning in the capacity of Headteacher.  Since working here, I have been the Interim Head and Deputy Head of one of E-ACT’s largest primary schools.  These roles together with my passion for teaching and learning and determination that all children receive the best possible education, make being the Head of Perry Court a role I am truly excited about.

Having three children of my own, two in primary school and one in secondary school, I feel very strongly about children’s well-being and the quality of the learning experience they receive.  I always ask myself:  would I be happy for my child to be taught here?

The new Ofsted framework, released in September, has an increased focus on the curriculum which I am fully in favour of. As a result of this, the development of a bespoke curriculum will be one of the first areas I will work on. Ofsted check to see whether the curriculum that is offered to children is broad, rich and reflects real learning. My aim will be to give your children learning experiences that they will enjoy but at the same time knowledge and skills that they will retain and be able to use throughout their time at Perry Court and in their lives.

I highly value your opinions as well as the children’s and staff’s on what makes you proud of Perry Court and what improvements, if any, you would like to be put in place. Building positive relationships and communicating effectively is something I feel strongly about as only by working together can we give your children the best quality of education and learning experiences they deserve.

In the meantime, there is a brief video on the Facebook page (video)you can watch to see who I am and to find out a little bit more about me.  That way, you may then recognise me whenever you see me on the school site when it re-opens!

I look forward to meeting you all but until that happens, keep fit and well, continue with your brilliant home learning and know that I will be there to welcome you with a smile on day 1.

Best wishes,

Mrs. Reynolds

Headteacher
