On Friday 14th September 15 girls across KS2 took part in the Tag Rugby Girls festival at Broad Plain rugby club. We entered two teams into the festival.
The girls played against St Peters, Headley Park and Victoria Park. The majority of the teams has all Y5s or Y6s whereas we had children from Y3 – Y6.
Our A team were girls who have had previous knowledge of tag rugby. Headley Park commented about their talent with the wide range of ages involved within in team. They also mentioned that the team has a great amount of potential.
Our B team were new to the sport and all girls were helped massively by Ashton Park Sports Partnership to understand the rules and how the game works. Miss Miles even made her debut in the B team and played to help the girls grow and development their understanding.
Despite the rain coming down fast at one point, the girls continued to show resilience and determination to develop their learning of the game and improve their rugby skills.
Overall, there was a fantastic display of teamwork on show and the girls were there for each other and showed awesome sportsmanship.
Well done to all girls involved:
Y3 – Rain, Olivia Y, Olivia D, Faith
Y4 – Chelsea, Emily, Darcy, Kaitlin, Mia, Sienna
Y5 – Gracey, Imogen, Ashleigh
Y6 – Ella, Ava
