At Perry Court last week we completely embraced World Book Day….with a book week!

The week kicked off with an ‘Unwrap the book’ assembly, where each year group would unwrap their book of the week. These books were used to inspire the children’s writing throughout the week. Monday also saw the return of Mark Lemon, author of ‘The Magical Woods,’ and the Otis and Thea Lemon series. The children took part in workshops with Mark – looking at the stories and illustrations.

On Tuesday in Reception the children all had afternoon tea – with a Tiger! They loved making their own sandwiches and were thrilled that the tiger didn’t eat them!

Everyone in the school took part in World Book Day on Thursday, where we saw some brilliant book characters – Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, Freddie Mercury, book fairies, Mr Bump, Paddington, Gangsta Granny and Where’s Wally to name but a few!

The week ended on Friday with another author visit. John Rowe took the children through a magical story telling experience of a blend of traditional folk tales mixed with magic and merriment! At the end of the day parents were invited into school to enjoy their children’s learning – a great way to celebrate a fantastic week.

All in all, a fantastic week, embracing all that is wonderful about books and how we can enjoy them.
